My 8 year old sang this at my wedding to the only dad he knew. Without missing a note, beat, or a word, as he cried through his singing. Sadly, nearly 8 years ago, we sang it for his funeral. Love this song.

I just heard this song for the first time when I was visiting a UMC in another state. I loved it as the words were sung by the congregation. It was joyous music to my ears! I am toward the autumn of my life and thought this to be a perfect song for a funeral service as well. The song brings tears to my eyes as I imagine God watching each life unfold before him and being by our side until we close our eyes with just one more surprise. This is how it has always been, but this song opened my eyes yet another time to just how great our God is.

I had this song sung at my daughter's baptism and her confirmation. My daughter is getting married in 4 months and she is having it sung at her wedding. It's a very beautiful song and has so much meaning. It's very moving!

I am teaching this hymn to our congregation tomorrow. It is so beautiful and after hearing this at funeral three years ago it has grown in my heart. The lectionary listed this hymn for tomorrow's service. I think it will be well received.

While making arrangements for my mother's memorial service, I wanted Amazing Grace and How Great Thou Art, because I find those songs inspirational and moving. I needed a third hymn and the minister suggested the Borning Cry. I had never heard the song before but I went with his recommendation. Oh my!!! The words are so moving and beautiful. This song is a precious, precious gift!

We will be using this song at my father-in-law's memorial service the weekend. My husband and I both love the song, and I was relieved to read that it has the same effect on many others as it has on me. I never get through it in church without crying, sometimes to the point that I have to excuse myself. I thought I was a little strange for having such a strong reaction, but feel less so now.
