I understand the words to be "came a man of countenance so fair" instead of "beauty so rare". In my research, I find Ike Davis recorded this in 1964. Jimmy Swaggart in 1978. I found this: https://www.discogs.com/composition/406 ... -Of-Prayer
It states that Martin Montgomery aka Martin Wetter from the LightCrust Doughboys composed the song. It also states that Ike Davis's album is arranged and composed by Marvin Montgomery, but I can't find any information verifying that M.Montgomery wrote this song beyond this above website. Hope this helps.

Ike Davis wrote many wonderful songs....and he toured with our church choir back in the lat 1970's in Central Texas.
