Yes I’ve been searching far and wide for that version!! That’s the one I heard as a child, with a male singer!

Um, we young folks know we like this song! I have only heard it performed live by Truth back in the day when I was a younger young folk. Thanks, all, for posting tidbits. I wish I had a performance track since I only play vocals.

Oh for crying out loud, you young folks don't know anything. The song PROMISED LAND was written and composed by LARRY BRYANT, and first sang by BLIND, CHRISTIAN, JAZZ PIANIST and VOCALIST Terri Gibbs on her CD "COMFORT THE PEOPLE" in 1987.Stonebrook Music Company (SESAC) and TREE PUBLISHING COMPANY, 8 Music Square West, Nashville, TN37203 once held the rights to the song. Larry Bryant is a great songwriter and composer and he's easy enough to find. He's also a great guy. He'll probably have the chord charts somewhere I'm sure. Look for him on FACEBOOK. I have a copy of the words and music somewhere packed away and I'll see if I can find it. I'm Eddie Mc on FACEBOOK.

The song was originally performed by Truth, directed by Bill Breland out of Mobile, Alabama. It was simultaneously performed by Mobile College (Now the University of Mobile) touring group MC Singers in 1989. You can probably contact the University of Mobile's music department. They should still have copies in their library. My copies are hand written original scores, so it is a little difficult to follow.

Does anyone know who sings this song, other than the Gordon Sisters...the version on the radio?

Thanks!
