I cannot find who the original composer for Let Down Your Net is.
I sing Gospel, and I love Jimmy Swaggart's music. However I sing in many nursing homes, so I try to avoid lyrics that are negative, or have doubt (some do). In this case, I thought it could sound more upbeat for shut-ins, so I composed some substitute lyrics in places.
This is my version, if you are interested. I claim no copyright.
Let Down Your Net
Chorus
He said, Let down your nets,
down into the water,
there’s a blessing waiting you can not contain,
Why don't you let down your net,
way down in the water,
He’s pouring out that latter rain.
- 1 -
The Lord was at the seaside grillin' fish and bread,
While His disciples fished and struck out all night.
Jesus called, "My children, Have you any meat?"
Put your nets down on the other side.
(Chorus)
- 2 -
Your soul is so thirsty, you're so battle weary
your body’s weak and tired from the pain,
well it’s time to get up, and stand up on the Bible
He’s pouring out that latter rain.
(Chorus)
- 3 -
When old Satan comes at you, your weapons are not carnal,
the blessed name of Jesus is your power,
when he tries to bite your children
just do what old Paul did,
and shake that old snake off into the fire.
(Chorus)
Tag
Just let down your net,
way down in the water,
He’s pouring out that latter
pouring out that latter
pouring out that latter rain.

Just saw a rousing rendition of this by a choir singing with Jimmy Swaggart. What does it mean? Thank you, Kate [email protected]

I thought it went like this:

1.There are some of you, diseased and afflicted. And sickness reigns in your mind. You've let the prophets of doubt and unbelief convince you, that Jesus don't heal the sick and blind.

C. Why dont you let down your net, down into the water. Theres a blessed way that you cannot contain. If you'll just let down your net, down into the water; He's pouring out that latter rain.

2. Your soul is so thirsty, you're so battle weary. Your body's weak and tired from the pain. Well it's time to get up, and stand upon the Bible. He's pouring out that latter rain.

C.

3. When old satan comes at you, your weapons are not carnal. The blessed name of Jesus is your power. When he tries to bite your children, remember what ol'e Paul did; and shake that old snake off in the fire.

The Latter Rain
chorus:
Why don't you let down your nets, down into the water, there's a blessing
waiting you can not contain. If you'll just let down your nets and wade
out in the waters he's pouring out the latter rain.

1. Your soul is so thirsty and you're so battle weary and your body sick and
tired from all the pain. Well,it's time to get up and friend you got to stand upon the trouble,'cause,Lord,he's pouring out the latter rain.

2. When old satan's coming at you ,and you know your weapons are not carnal, but the mighty name of Jesus is your power, and when the devil tries
to get your children, just remember what old Paul did and shake that thing right off into the fire.

chorus:
Why don't you let down your nets, down into the waters, there's a blessing
waiting you can not contain. If you'll just let down your nets and wade out
into the waters, he's pouring out the latter rain.

Tag: He's pouring out the latter,he's pouring out the latter,he's pouring
out the latter rain.
