When I was a little boy in the 50s my Mother and others went from house to house for community sings. They were singing it then. I think I want to be a bass singer from the time I heard that chorus. To bad I never had the voice for it.

This song has been in my head for days. I first heard it as a young teen in the early 60s at gospel sings sung by J.D. Sumner and the Blackwood Brothers. My dad loved gospel music and we were raised on it. Nothing like r part harmony. My favorit song is Oh What A Savior!

Doyle Lawson and Quicksilver also recorded this one, but the only CD I have is a collection of their bluegrass gospel (I love it!)

Surprisingly, the song was published in an early 1970's hymnal, small and maroon hardcover, maybe by the Nazarene church. Sadly, I gave the hymnal away to someone else but maybe you can find it. For certain, there is a great bass line. In fact, I think there's a YouTube video of Doyle and the gang singing that very song.
