Thanks, Lively. More info is available all the time. People are starting to share some of their dim memories, and it truly is a blessing. :)

The Kingston Trio did it in their album At Large. There is a You Tube recording of it. I remember it very well from listening to my dad's album. (Yes, I know this post is 13 years late! Hello! :-)

Gaither Vocal Band sang it on there Acappalla CD.
At least that would give you the melody.

God Bless

C-Rex,
Sorry but I don't have the music. I remember hearing the song too but found the lyrics by a search. We must be of about the same vintage, as I too grew up in the '50's but in the great state of Indiana. Maybe someone else on this site will have the music. Hope so.

Hey There, SingerForGod. Thanks a large bunch for the quick response on "Good News". I remember that song from when I was a kid in the '50's, growing up in Philadelphia, listening to all that great, black gospel music from the Met, on the radio, and coming from the open doors of the inner-city storefront churches on a hot summer evening. The electric guitars and tambourines, punctuated by hand-clapping and the sweet, soulful voices of the sisters still rings gently in my memory. I love it! You wouldn't have the music, would you? I'm not sure of the melody of the verses. Thanks again. - C-Rex

Think this is what you are requesting. Enjoy.

Good News

Chorus:
Good news, chariot's comin'.
Good news, chariot's comin'.
Good news, chariot's comin'.
And I don't want it to leave me behind.

There's a long white robe in heaven I know
(there's a long white robe in heaven I know)
There's a long white robe in heaven I know
and I don't want it to leave me behind.

Chorus

There's a starry crown in heaven I know
(there's a starry crown in heaven I know)
There's a starry crown in heaven I know
and I don't want it to leave me behind.

Chorus

There's a golden harp in heaven I know
(there's a golden harp in heaven I know)
There's a golden harp in heaven I know
and I don't want to leave it behind.

Chorus

Can anyone help out this old Gospel dynosaur with the lyrics (or even the music) for the Spiritual "Good News, Chariot's-a-Comin" (and I don't want to be left behind)? - C-Rex
