Does anyone know the original author of the lyrics? I know it far pre-dated Paul Eckert or Steve Green because I used to sing it at school in the 1970's.

Does anyone know the name or composer of this TUNE? I'd also like to know the author of the lyrics. I used to sing this all the time at Greater Atlanta Christian Schools (over 40 years ago, now) and it was one of my favorites. I had a HARD time finding it, because parts of the verses have been put with other hymns such as "Alas and Did my Savior Bleed" by Isaac Watts. Is this also an Isaac Watts hymn?
