My grandad used to play his guitar while we sang the song. I don’t remember much of it except for bits and pieces. Here’s what I do recall: (I’m sorry for the wording as I am aware of how racist it sounds)
First god made the ocean then he made the sky’s,
Then he made the stars to put in little darkies eyes,
(I don’t remember the next two lines)
A walkin’ a walkin’ a walkin’ I say,
Walkin’ to the parlor and I listen to ‘em play,
Walkin’ to the parlor and I listen to ‘em sing,
And I see the darkie’s fingers as he picks upon the strings,
(There was some more stuff and the chorus would repeat a few times)
Salome was a dancer she danced the hoochy cooch,
The king said he liked it very very mooch,
But the Queen said “we’ll have to scandal here!”
“Oops!” Said Salome as she kicked the chandelier.
That’s all I remember.
