Thanks guest that posted on 9/07/17. It's not who I was looking for.
The one I heard in 1999 was a higher voice. No one else sang with her.

Do you remember if it is this version:
Ill take Jesus for mine, ill take Jesus for mine.
You can have this whole wide world, but Ill take Jesus for mine.
Verse: Aint got no time to pick and choose, with the Lord on my side, there's no way i can lose. From now until the end of my time, I'll take Jesus for mine.

I need the other verse

In the late 70's, there was a group from Princeton, KY called the Baker Family that recorded this song. Ricky Baker was the soloist. We still have some of their records.

I do not know, it is a copy of who knows how many copies (Not originally done by me!) no name or anything. I know it's older than 1999 because that is when I first heard it. the person who had it didn't know who it was either. I figure if I put it out there, someone will know who it is just by the other songs on the tape. Someone has to have the album (hopefully)

thanks, Niki

do you know the name of the tape? that would help in finding her or talk to the older folks in church. They seem to know alot of people and things from forever ago.

Thanks mr tlq. I will check out Dixie echos, pretty sure it's not the crabbs, least not the new ones. I first heard the song in 1999 I think and the woman singing it is who I would really like to find. It was on a tape someone had that was copied who knows how many times so I don't know when it was originally recorded. Other songs on the tape were

I'm persuaded to believe
Don't give up on the child of God
Jesus, the sweetest name I know
I'd rather have Jesus
More of you

and several others, all sung by the same woman. No back up vocals, just her. you can feel the Spirit when she sings. I just don't know who she is. any ideas? It isn't anyone singing these days, that I know of because I have not heard her and I have checked out a lot of sound alikes.

Thanks, Niki
