Re: pick up the pieces and give them to jesus---need lyrics

Thanks for your message KatChu!

Over the years we've had lots of visitors and lurkers who have been the authors and composers of hymns, so who knows, it's certainly possible. :)

May the Lord bless you and your small local church in the Philippines! :)

Re: Author - God's Amazing Grace Still Amazes Me

This was a surprisingly challenging question to track down. The Lindseys and the Nunn Sisters sing the most popular renditions of this song, but neither of them appeared to be the writers. The only clue I could find are the comments on this YouTube video from 2018 that seemed fairly confident it was...

Re: Troublesome Waters

I should say I'm not a lawyer, but I can share some of my findings with you. I started with a search at the US Copyright Office . I see that there are a number of results. Most of them are probably going to be copyrighted performances (including the most famous by Johnny Cash), but you'll also find ...

Re: It's g-l-o-r-y to know I'm s-a-v-e-d

Does anyone know the origin of this song? There's an interesting thread on Mudcat that discusses many of the artists over the years that have recorded this song. The earliest citations reference "Sunday School Songs of the 1920s". The earliest recording seems to be one by the Georgia Yell...

Re: Lord of the Dance

Here they are. Lyrics were written by Sydney Carter in 1963. It's sung to the tune of "Simple Gifts" 1. I danced in the morning When the world was begun, And I danced in the moon And the stars and the sun; And I came down from heaven And I danced on the earth, At Bethlehem I had my birth. ...

Re: "In times like these..."

Thank you so much for your comments, Ed. It's always thrilling when a family member of a hymn writer visits, especially a hymn as iconic as this one.

If you have any stories behind how your grandmother came to write this amazing hymn we'd love to hear them! :)

God bless,

Re: Troublesome Waters

Thanks so much for posting and for setting the record straight! (I see someone else in your family, perhaps one of your parents, also left a comment in 2012). We'd love to hear more details of your great grandmother's story. The fact that people are still looking for the lyrics to the hymn she wrote...

Re: Hymns you can't get through without crying

Thanks for starting this thread, yeropil8 :) Would love to hear what others come up with. These are the first that come to mind when I think of hymns that get me teary-eyed: - I Know Who Holds Tomorrow - Because He Lives - His Eye Is On the Sparrow - He Hideth My Soul I think what these all have in ...
