Anyone know the rest of the lyrics to this song.
I was singing it as a youngster back about 1975

What I remember

Verse 1
I awake to the day with the morning light.
????
The trees green branches look down from above
My world is peaceful because of God's love.
???

Verse 2?
This day is my own I must use it with care

I came across this message while googling for this song just now. what I remember from the version I learned:

I awake to the day on a mountain high
the sun shines bright in a perfect sky
the trees' green branches look down from above
my world is peaceful because of God's love

this day is my own I must use it with care
so when night falls and I say my prayers
I'll thank you Lord for a beautiful day
this is my morning song

This is how I remember it :
I awake to the day on a mountain high
The pines like arrows are pointing above
My world is peaceful because of God's love
This day is my own, I must use it with care
So when night comes and I say my prayers
I'll thank you God for a beautiful day
This is my morning song

I thought I posted the first one, it's so similar to the way I remember it: a beautiful song we had in a music book in 1st grade @ Lafayette Elementary in West Seattle. (61 yrs ago!) I don't recall anything about the high mountain. All I can recall is:

"I awake to the day, when the shadows of night
Have disappeared in the morning light.
The trees' green branches look down from above.
My world is peaceful because of God's love."

We're getting close, kids. Whatever happened to those old song books?

I have looked for years and I think I remember it this way...

I awake to the day, when the shadows of night
Have drifted away in the morning light.
The trees' green branches look down from above.
My world is peaceful because of God's love.
This day is my own, I must use it with care
So when night comes and I say my prayers
I'll thank you God for a beautiful day
This is my morning song"

I awake to the day on a mountain top high
the sun shines bright in a perfect sky
The pines like arrows are pointing above
My world is peaceful because of God's love
This day is my own, I must use it with care
So when night comes and I say my prayers
I'll thank you God for a beautiful day
This is my morning song"

This is how I remember it:

I awake to the day on a mountain high
Where the sun is bright in a perfect sky.
The pines, like arrows, are pointing above,
My world is peaceful because of God's love.

This day is my own, I must use it with care.
So when night comes, and I say my prayers,
I thank you God for a beautiful day.

This is my morning song.

I awake to the day when the shadows of night
Have disappeared in the sun's first light.
The trees' green branches look down from above,
My world is peaceful because of God's love.

This day is my own, I must use it with care.
So when night comes, and I say my prayers,
I thank you God for a beautiful day.

This is my morning song.

It was in our music book in about the 8th grade, c. 1965. I have always loved it!
