Here's what I was able to find on the Web. Not sure if the lyrics are 100%, but perhaps someone out there can verify?

I remember this song very well. Unfortunately, I've not been able to find an audio or video recording of it. It was a staple in my youth group during the mid 80's.

Dear Sir, This is the exact text and layout of the hymn CAN IT BE TRUE? as far as I can make it out.
I also used to sing it with our Christian youth group and it moves me yet.
Why it dropped out of use - I cannot tell because both the words and the music are so beautiful. As a poet, I am often disappointed with the unworked quality of the lyrics found in many modern hymns, often with not an accurate rhyme in sight! But this is a cracker! Grace be with you. Thank you, I hadn't heard let alone sung this hymn in a very long time but just lately haven't been able to get it out of my head. Now I will be able to sing and hum it to myself correctly. Blessings to you all x.

Brother William S.S.F. wrote it and his original has 5 verses. The 3 verse setting appeared in Youth Praise, for which some of the original was moved about and even missed out !
