Find hymn with a clue

Post by Tommy D » Mon Oct 26, 2015 3:00 pm

We have been playing ''Name that hymn'' with only the notes but the notes have all been with no time measurement. I have been doing OK with that but now it has been changed to find this hymn with only a clue.
I am stumped with this clue?
''relate to me the ancient ancient tale
inscribe my cardiac muscle with each designation''

Any suggestions?
Thank you
Tommy

Hi Tommy,
Here's my first stab at figuring out what hymn this is -
Tell me an old old story
Write (?each designation?) on my heart
What do you have so far?

Thank you Nancy,
I think ''Tell me an old old story'' could be it''. May be a few days before I know for sure but I will post again when I find out.

the phrase: ".. write on my heart every word." may relate to your clue: ''relate to me the ancient, ancient tale
inscribe my cardiac muscle with each designation''

TELL ME THE STORY OF JESUS (1880) Key: Eb 4/4
Words: Fanny Crosby, in The Quiver of Sacred Song, by William Kirkpatrick
And John Sweney (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania: John J. Hood, 1880)
Music: John Robson Sweney CCLI 33399

1. Tell me the story of Jesus, Write on my heart every word;
Tell me the story most precious, Sweetest that ever was heard.
Tell how the angels in Chorus, Sang as they welcomed His birth;
"Glory to God in the highest! Peace and good tidings to earth."

Refrain
Tell me the story of Jesus, Write on my heart every word.
Tell me the story most precious, Sweetest that ever was heard.

2. Fasting alone in the desert, Tell of the days that are past;
How for our sins He was tempted, Yet was triumphant at last.
Tell of the years of His labor, Tell of the sorrow He bore;
He was despised and afflicted, Homeless, rejected and poor.

3. Tell of the cross where they nailed Him, Writhing in anguish and pain.
Tell of the grave where they laid Him, Tell how He liveth again.
Love in that story so tender, Clearer than ever I see.
Stay, let me weep while you whisper, Love paid the ransom for me.
