I cannot find who the original composer for Let Down Your Net is.
I sing Gospel, and I love Jimmy Swaggart's music. However I sing in many nursing homes, so I try to avoid lyrics that are negative, or have doubt (some do). In this case, I thought it could sound more upbeat for shut-ins, so I composed some substitute lyrics in places.
This is my version, if you are interested. I claim no copyright.
Let Down Your Net
Chorus
He said, Let down your nets,
down into the water,
there’s a blessing waiting you can not contain,
Why don't you let down your net,
way down in the water,
He’s pouring out that latter rain.
- 1 -
The Lord was at the seaside grillin' fish and bread,
While His disciples fished and struck out all night.
Jesus called, "My children, Have you any meat?"
Put your nets down on the other side.
(Chorus)
- 2 -
Your soul is so thirsty, you're so battle weary
your body’s weak and tired from the pain,
well it’s time to get up, and stand up on the Bible
He’s pouring out that latter rain.
(Chorus)
- 3 -
When old Satan comes at you, your weapons are not carnal,
the blessed name of Jesus is your power,
when he tries to bite your children
just do what old Paul did,
and shake that old snake off into the fire.
(Chorus)
Tag
Just let down your net,
way down in the water,
He’s pouring out that latter
pouring out that latter
pouring out that latter rain.
