I´ve had the recording of "Goin´home" for many years and I´m happy to find lyrics on the Internet. I wish to have this hymn played at my funeral to accompany me on the way to our Lord. (V.K., Czech Republic)

There is another version of this song, but as far as I know it is an older one.

GOING HOME

Many times in my childhood we'd travel so far
By nightfall how weary I'd grow.
Father's arms would slip 'round me and gently he'd say,
"My child, we're going home."

Going home, I'm going home.
There is nothing to hold me here.
I got a glimpse of that heavenly land;
Praise God, I am going home.

Now the twilight is fading, the day soon shall end,
I get homesick the farther I roam.
But the Father has blessed me each step of the way,
And now I am going home.

Going home, I'm going home.
There is nothing to hold me here.
I caught a glimpse of that heavenly land,
Praise God, we are going home.

Praise God, we are going home.

Hope it helps

If you go to the link that SteveLiu referenced last June in the first of the list of messages, you will find the music and two verses of the song (the Dvorak version). Here are two other verses that were sung at a friend's funeral in England in 2004:

Going home, moving on, through God's open door;
Hush, my soul, have no fear, Christ has gone before.
Parting hurts, love protests, pain is not denied;
Yet in Christ, life and hope span the great divide.
Going home, moving on, though God's open door;
Hush, my soul, have no fear, Christ has gone before.

No more guilt, no more fear, all the past is healed;
Broken dreams now restored, perfect grace revealed.
Christ has died, Christ is ris'n, Christ will come again;
Death destroyed, live restored, love alone shall reign.
Going home, moving on, through God's open door;
Hush, my soul, have no fear, Christ has gone before.

Thanks Steve. My Mom asked me to find this music for my Dad when it's his turn. Hopefully it will be a long time waiting.

Oops. The fourth line of the second verse has a typo. It should be:
Death destroyed, life restored, love alone shall reign.

I believe the angelic voice you are talking
about is Charlotte Church. I have heard her
sing Going Home
