I love this song

Brings back memories for me and again now as I need strength at this time and would appreciate all your prayers.

We are so blessed to have songs like this to help us through.

Thankyou

When i was a little girl my mom use to sing this song. But only it was like this. He said come to the water and stand by my side and drink from the fountain you won't be denied i have seen every tear drop that fell from eyes and he rose to tell you for your sins he died

While I respect your opinion, perhaps it might make sense to re-read the words a bit more carefully in context.

One cries in the darkness of sin.
One cries because one is bound by the chains of sin.
One cries when one thirsts, having been separated from God's gift.

In other words, the writer of this hymn was not singing about mere tears, but rather of the deep pain that comes out of sin. And so I don't think what the hymn writer is saying and what you're saying are that much different :)
