Store It Up Above

Post by ericksonpl » Sat Jun 22, 2019 5:11 pm

A similar post was made in 2008, and answered with a link which no longer points to the song. I only ever heard it once on the radio on a Bluegrass Gospel program in the mid 1990s. I have no idea who performed or wrote it. Here are the lyrics as I remember them:

Verse 1
Jesus told about a man whose barns were full as they could be
He planned to tear them down and build some more
Oh he laughed unto himself and said, “I’ll live a life of ease!”
But he died and left what he was working for.

Chorus:
I’m gonna store it up above
In the glory of His love
Where the troubles of this earth will fade away
I’m gonna keep it all with Him
‘til I reach my journey’s end
I’m gonna store my wealth with Jesus ‘til that day.

Verse 2
So don’t store your riches here on earth where moths and rust decay
Where thieves break in and steal them for their own
For true wealth is not made up of things no matter what men say
Store your riches up in God’s Eternal Home

Chorus:
I’m gonna store it up above
In the glory of His love
Where the troubles of this earth will fade away
I’m gonna keep it all with Him
‘til I reach my journey’s end
I’m gonna store my wealth with Jesus ‘til that day.

I would love to hear it again or at least have confirmation that I have the lyrics right and any information about who wrote or performed it.

Thank you and God Bless You!
