Song about mother losing teen son

I am looking for a song that was released about 35 years ago. I have no idea who is the singing group. In the song, the mom gives permission for her teen son and others to go to the beach; on the way home, he is killed in car accident. The grieving Mom struggles with her faith: "did you will it? . . . I need your comfort; I need your love; I need to know he's with you tonight . . . Help me to know that all I've learned is right."
