Jesus was praying for me

In my earlier request I wrote the first two lines of this hymn. I think the title is Jesus was praying for me.
The first verse is -
Jesus went out into a lonely place to pray
And He was praying for me
There to meet His Father before the break of day
And He was praying for me
Praying for the power all men's broken hearts to bind
Giving strength to palsied and sight to the blind
Bringing joy and hope and peace to lost mankind
Jesus was praying for me
I really need more verses. Anyone help?

I think there were 3 verses. the 2nd had "and He was dying for me" in it

the 3rd I think starts. "soon I'll see my Saviour where the angels kneel and bow
and He'll be coming for me"

Hope that helps. I'd like to get these words as well. I learned it in 1975/6 but the memory is not what it was, and sadly the person who told me has gone away from the Lord and contact has been lost.

I remember this being sung by The London Emmanuel Choir. It was on Pilgrim Recordings 1969 entitled 'Let The Whole World Know' here are the words by Linda C. Barnes.

JESUS WAS PRAYING FOR ME

Jesus went out into a lonely place to pray,
And He was praying for me,
There to meet His Father before the break of day.
Jesus was praying for me.
Praying for the power all mens broken hearts to bind,
Giving strength to palsied and sight to the blind,
Bringing joy and hope and peace to lost mankind,
Jesus was praying for me.

Jesus went out into a garden to pray,
He was praying for me.
Judas was at hand the Son of man to betray,
Jesus was praying for me.
As He knelt in agony He knew sin's evil power,
Legions of Angels could have saved Him from that hour
But He faced the Cross for Satan held me in his power
Jesus was praying for me.

Then they took my Saviour to the Cross of Calvary
And there He suffered for me,
Pierced His hands and feet, a sign for all eternity
When He was suffering for me.
He bore my sins in His own body on the tree,
All my shame and sorrow, all my gilt and penalty,
There's no more to pay because my Saviour set me free!
When He was dying for me.

Soon I''ll see my Saviour where the Angels kneel and bow
Where He is pleading for me,
There's no need of sun nor moon, for He's the glory now
And He is pleading for me.
Where the cruel thorns had made a crown about His head
Where the nails had peirced Him, and where his blood was shed,
There is strength and power Christ is risen from the dead,,
And he is coming for me.

I hope the person who wanted these words find them - I came accross your request when looking on youtube this Eastertide (2013) to see if the song was there as I remember, and loved it from the 1960's

Perhaps this song is due for a revival! Just this morning, I thought of the first few words, then remembered a few more (especially last verse), and decided to see if there was a youtube recording of it. How odd that the first enquiry was made in February 08, and yet Marion added her contribution last Thursday. I have several friends who used to sing in the LEC - I'll see what response I get from them. Watch this space!"

I'm not tech savvy but I will try to upload a selfie recording on guitar. Failing that I may post the chord sequence. It's a beautiful tune to these wonderful words. A powerful combination.

Delighted to see this thread. My mother Linda Taylor (nee Barnes) wrote this song, and she is still alive and got all her marbles, aged 90. It is a family favourite. She sang it in the Royal Albert Hall during Tom Rees evangelistic campaigns in the 50s. It is on London Emmanuel Choir's "Let The Whole World Know". Glad it still has resonance.
