These are some that I use at a nursing home.

His Eye Is On The Sparrow

Why should I feel discouraged? Why should the shadows come?
Why should my heart be lonely and long for Heaven and home,
When Jesus is my portion, My constant friend is He:
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.

Chorus
I sing because I'm happy,
I sing because I'm free,
For His eye is on the sparrow,
And I know He watches me.

2. "Let not your heart be troubled," His tender word I hear,
And resting on His goodness, I lose my doubts and fears;
Though by the path He leadeth but one step I may see:
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.

3. Whenever I am tempted, whenever clouds arise,
When song gives place to sighing, when hope within me dies;
I draw the closer to Him, from care He sets me free:
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.

#2
I Come to the Garden Alone

I come to the garden alone
While the dew is still on the roses,
And the voice I hear falling on my ear,
The Son of God discloses.

And He walks with me, and He talks with me,
And He tells me I am His own;
And the joy we share as we tarry there,
None other has ever known.

2. He speaks, and the sound of His voice
Is so sweet the birds hush their singing,
And the melody that He gave to me
Within my heart is ringing.

3. I'd stay in the garden with Him
Though the night around me be falling,
But He bids me go; thru the voice of woe
His voice to me is calling.

#3
I Know Who Holds Tomorrow

1: I don't know about tomorrow,
I just live from day to day.
I don't borrow from it's sunshine,
For it's skies may turn to gray.
I don't worry o'er the future,
For I know what Jesus said,
And today I'll walk beside Him,
For He knows what is ahead.

Chorus
Many things about tomorrow,
I don't seem to understand;
But I know Who holds tomorrow,
And I know Who holds my hand.

2: Every step is getting brighter,
As the golden stairs I climb;
Ev'ry burden's getting lighter;
Ev'ry cloud is silver lined.
There the sun is always shining,
There no tear will dim the eyes,
At the ending of the rainbow,
Where the mountains touch the sky.

Chorus.

3: I don't know about tomorrow,
It may bring me poverty;
But the One Who feeds the sparrow,
Is the One Who stands by me.
And the path that be my portion,
May be through the flame or flood,
But His presence goes before me,
And I'm covered with His blood.

Chorus

Yes, I know Who holds tomorrow,
And I know Who holds my hand

I SHALL KNOW HIM

1. When my life work is ended, and I cross the swelling tide,
When the bright and glorious morning I shall see
I shall know my Redeemer when I reach the other side,
And His smile will be the first to welcome me.

Chorus
I shall know Him, I shall know Him
And redeemed by His side, I shall stand
I shall know Him, I shall know Him,
By the print of the nails in His hand.

2. Oh, the soul thrilling rapture when I view His blessed face
And the luster of His kindly beaming eye;
How my full heart will praise Him for the mercy, love, and grace
That prepared for me a mansion in the sky.

3. Oh, the dear ones in glory, how they beckon me to come,
And our parting at the river I recall;
To the sweet vales of Eden they will sing my welcome home,
But I long to meet my Saviour first of all.

4. Through the gates of the city in a robe of spotless white,
He will lead me where no tears will ever fall;
In the glad song of ages I shall mingle with delight,
But I long to meet my Saviour first of all.

It is no Secret

1. The chimes of time ring out the news,
Another day is through.
Someone slipped and fell,
Was that someone you?
You may have longed for added strength,
Your courage to renew,
Do not be disheartened,
For I have news for you!

Chorus
It is no secret what God can do.
What He's done for others,
He'll do for you.
With arms wide open,
He'll pardon you.
It is no secret what God can do.

2. There is no night for in His light
You'll never walk alone.
Always feel at home
Wherever you may roam.
There is no power can conquer you
While God is on your side
Take Him at His promise,
Don't run away and hide.

Jesus Hold My Hand
As I travel through this pilgrim land,
There is a friend who walks with me;
Leads me safely through the sinking sand,
He is the Christ of Calvary.
This would be my prayer dear Lord each day,
To help me do the best I can;
For I need Thy light to guide me day and night,
Blessed Jesus, hold my hand.

Chorus
Jesus, hold my hand, I need Thee every hour;
Through this pilgrim land, Protect me by Thy power.
Hear my feeble plea, O Lord, look down on me;
When I kneel in prayer, I hope to meet you there;
Blessed Jesus, hold my hand.

Let me travel in the light divine,
That I might see the Blessed way;
Keep me that I may be holy Thine,
And sing redemption song someday.
I will be a soldier brave and true,
And ever firmly take a stand;
As I onward go and daily meet the foe,
Blessed Jesus, hold my hand.

When I wander thru the valley dim
Toward the setting of the sun,
Lead me safely to a land of rest
If I a crown of life have won;
I have put my faith in Thee, dear Lord,
That I may reach the golden strand,
There's no other friend on whom I can depend,
Blessed Jesus, hold my hand.
Chorus

Just A Closer Walk With Thee

1: I am weak, but Thou art strong;
Jesus, keep me from all wrong;
I'll be satisfied as long
As I walk, let me walk close to Thee.

Chorus
Just a closer walk with Thee,
Grant it, Jesus, is my plea,
Daily walking close to Thee,
Let it be, dear Lord, let it be.

2: Through this world of toil and snares,
If I falter, Lord, who cares?
Who with me my burden shares?
None but Thee, dear Lord, none but Thee.

Chorus

3: When my feeble life is o''er,
Time for me will be no more;
Guide me gently, safely o''er
To Thy kingdom shore, to Thy shore.

The reason I have addes so many is because it's a passion of mine to take my guitar and go and sing with the elderly.They bless mme more than I bless them.

O I Want to See Him

(G) As I journey through this land, singing (C) as I (G) go,
Pointing souls to Calvary, (A7)to the crimson (D7) flow.
(G) Many arrows pierce my soul from with(C) out, with(G) in.
But my Lord leads me on, through Him I (D) must (G) win

. Chorus:
(G) I want to see Him, (C) look upon His (G) face,
There to sing forever (A7) of His saving (D) grace;
(G) On the streets of glory (C) let me lift my (G) voice;
Cares all past, home at last, ever (D) to re (G) joice.

When in service for my Lord dark may be the night,
But I'll cling more close to Him, He will give me light;
Satan's snares may vex my soul, turn my thoughts aside;
But my Lord goes ahead, leads whate'er betide.

When in valleys low I look toward the mountain height,
And behold my Saviour there leading in the fight,
With a tender hand outstretched toward the valley low,
Guiding me, I can see as I onward go.

When before me billows rise from the mighty deep,
Then my Lord directs my bark; He doth safely keep,
And He leads me gently on through this world below;
He's a real friend to me, O I love Him so

When I reach the other shore
All my troubles will be over
And I'll rest forevermore
My eyes will be on Jesus

2; Someday when life is over
And I've said my last good bye
I'll see my Savior standing at heavens door

All your cares are left behind
And you won't have to worry anymore"

SHELTERED IN THE ARMS OF GOD

They're leading me in paths that I must trod.
I have no fear, for Jesus walks beside me.
And I'm sheltered in the arms of God.

Chorus;
So let the storms rage high, the dark clouds rise.
They don't worry me ,for I'm sheltered safe within the arms of God.
He walks with me and none on earth shall harm me.
For I'm sheltered in the arms of God.

We all love happy songs. The one we sang at my mother's funeral was "When we all get to Heaven." When sung with vigor and faith, that song lifts the spirit with the truth of God.

When we all get to heaven
C
Sing the wondrous love of Jesus,

Dm G Dm G C
Sing His mercy and His grace.

C C7 F F#dim
In the mansions bright and blessed,

C/G G C
He'll prepare for us a place.

Chorus:

When we all get to heaven,

G/B Am D7 G7
What a day of rejoicing that will be.

Esus Am F#/D
When we all see Jesus,

C/G G7 C
We'll sing and shout the victory.

While we walk the pilgrim pathway,
Clouds will over spread the sky.
But when travelling days are over,
Not a shadow, not a sigh.

Let us then be true and faithful,
Trusting serving everyday.
Just one glimpse of Him in heaven,
Will the toils of life repay.

Onward to the prize before us,
Soon His beauty we'll behold.
Soon the pearly gates will open,
We shall tread the streets of gold.

Oh I Want to See Him

As I journey through the land, singing as I go,
Pointing souls to Calvary-to the crimson flow,
Many arrows pierce my soul from without, within;

Refrain:
Oh, I want to see Him, look upon His face,

Victory Ahead

When the hosts of Israel, led by God,
Round the walls of Jericho softly trod,
Trusting in the Lord, they felt the conqu'ror's tread,
By faith they saw the victory ahead.

Refrain:
Victory ahead! Victory ahead!
Through the blood of Jesus, victory ahead;
Trusting in the Lord, I hear the conqu'ror's tread,
By faith I see the victory ahead!

David with a shepherd's sling and five stones,
Met the giant on the field all alone,
Trusting in the Lord, he knew what God had said,
By faith he saw the victory ahead.

Daniel prayed unto the Lord thrice each day,
Then unto the lion's den led the way,
Trusting in the Lord, he did not fear or dread,
By faith he saw the victory ahead.

Often with the carnal mind I was tried,
Asking for deliverance oft I cried,
Trusting in the Lord, I reckoned I was dead,
By faith I saw the victory ahead.

When like those who've gone before to that land,
By death's river cold and dark I shall stand;
Trusting in the Lord, I will not fear or dread,
By faith I see the victory ahead.

Near the Cross by Fanny Crosby

Jesus, keep me near the cross,
There a precious fountain-
Free to all, a healing stream-
Flows from Calv'ry's mountain.

Refrain:
In the cross, in the cross,
Be my glory ever;
Till my raptured soul shall find
Rest beyond the river.

Near the cross, a trembling soul,
Love and Mercy found me;
There the bright and morning star
Sheds its beams around me.

Near the cross! O Lamb of God,
Bring its scenes before me;
Help me walk from day to day,
With its shadows o'er me.

Near the cross I'll watch and wait
Hoping, trusting ever,
Till I reach the golden strand,
Just beyond the river.

This hymns maybe referred as old but they never age.
I was blest to grow up in a family of singers who were not preformers for any audience but just folks you love to sing hymns. In Praise to our Lord let none of us ever forget to Thank God for the talents of the ones who wrote the music and the lyrics of these gifts to our life.

God Bless YOU!
