This song, composed by the famous self-educated black Methodist preacher, Charles Albert Tindley, was recorded in the early 1960s by Elvis Presley. ASCAP now lists the song with Elvis having the composer credits -- probably because it is his arrangement -- and owned by the Auerbach Trust, the heirs to Hill & Range Songs, Elvis Presley Music and Gladys Music.

Charles Albert Tindley also is credited with the original words and music of the hymn which became the Civil Rights anthem, "We Shall Overcome."

No disrespect intended to the talent of Elvis Presley, or anyone else, but in my opinion, Tennessee Ernie Ford did a more heartfelt version of this song than any other I have heard.
