Hi, there...I talked to my co-worker some more and got more words to her mystery hymns. "I was a lad" is not for Gramma Sang bass song but thank you for looking.

The lyrics are "when I was but a lad in days of childhood"

The second song is "into a tent where a gypsy boy laid"

Thanks for all your help.

God bless,
Kay

I think this is what you are looking for. Lad can be interchanged with child I believe.

Supper Time

When I was just a boy in days of childhood,
I used to play till evening shadows come.
Then winding down an old familiar pathway,
I heard my mother call at set of sun:

Come home, come home,
It's supper time,
The shadows lengthen fast.
Come home, come home,
It's supper time,
We're going home at last.

One day beside her bedside I was kneeling,
And angel wings were winnowing the air.
She heard the call for supper time in heaven,
And I know she's waiting for me there.

Come home, come home,
It's supper time,
The shadows lengthen fast.
Come home, come home,
It's supper time,
We're going home at last.

(Spoken)
Some of the fondest memories of my childhood
Were woven around suppertime
When my mother used to call
From the back steps of the old home place
Come on home now son it's suppertime.
Ahhhh, but I'd loved to hear that once more
But you know for me, time has woven the realization of
The truth that's even more thrilling,
And that's when the call comes from the portals of glory
To come home for it's suppertime.
When all God's children shall gather around the table
of the Lord, Himself and the greatest suppertime of them all.

In visions now I see her standing yonder,
And her familiar voice I hear once more.
The banquet table's ready up in heaven,
It's supper time upon the golden shore.

Come home, come home,
It's supper time,
The shadows lengthen fast.
Come home, come home,
It's supper time,
We're going home at last.
