The original Schiller poem 'ode to joy' was set to is AWESOME, my favorite translation of the first verse is like:
"Joy, glorious spark of gods, daughter of Elysium - Here we enter drunk with fire, Heaven high thy sanctuary - Thy magic power binds us together, we who swords have sundered so - Beggars are made Prince's brothers, where thy gentle wing abides."
"Joy, glorious spark of gods, daughter of Elysium - Here we enter drunk with fire, Heaven high thy sanctuary - Thy magic power binds us together, we who swords have sundered so - Beggars are made Prince's brothers, where thy gentle wing abides."
