It was in a little old country church not so many years ago
We had met to praise the lord that night in the old fashioned way you know
At an old time altar I knelt down and began to weep and pray
Jesus spoke to me while I was there
And my burdens rolled away.

Chorus
I remember all about it, when he spoke peace to my soul
All the world can't make me doubt it, I'm happy free and whole
I have never been forsaken, never had to beg for bread
All I have to him i"ll take, by his loving hand I'm lead

2nd Verse
What a happy feeling o'er me rolled, when he borke the bonds of sin
Tho my heart was sad he made me glad, gave me peace and joy within
Now i'm truly his and he is mine, we're walking hand in hand
And I know he'll lead me safely on, till I reach that promise land

Chorus

This is the lyrics as I have sang all my life, Hope it helps. I don't know if I actually know the proper title

There's a lady at church who sings this hymn from time to time. I'll ask her and/or our song leader tomorrow. I've heard this song all my life. It's a classic and describes nearly exactly how the good Lord saved my soul one day over 40 years ago. God bless!

Tomorrow, I'll inquire with the lady at church or our song leader about this hymn, a timeless classic. It beautifully mirrors the profound moment when the Lord saved my soul over 40 years ago. Blessings!
