I first heard it back in the 80's as sung by Lillie Knauls.

Also, the "Master's Chorale" sings this as well. Two people who posted above are correct: L. E. Singer was the writer and the music is by Don Wyrtzen, approximately 1971. http://www.hymnary. org.

HOWEVER another website gives Mr. Wyrtzen credit for both writing and composing the music http://www.musicnotes.com

You be the judge.

Vern Jackson sings it, & I think it could be on one of his cd's.

P.S. My Dad, (Vern Jackson's cousin), has sang it for funerals years ago (my dad passed away 14 years ago in march 2002), so we have him singing it on a casette tape. He heard Vern sing it and liked it & sang it too.

Don wrote the music for this song in the Musical Love Story. It is about a missionary lady. You will find the musical at this link; http://www.greatstuffmusiccompany.com/a ... rower.html scan down to the musical Love Story.
The Love Story

by Phil and Lynne Brower/Arranged by Don Wyrtzen

The Love Story is a musical parable of Calvary love -- a new and fresh look at a very old and rugged cross. The Love Story is a true story. The people, the places, and the events are real. It all begins as a little girl "happens" upon the few simple possessions left to this world by a woman named Bertha Allen. A couple of worn dresses, a pair of funny shoes, and an old picture album... not much more really! However, if you were to ask those who knew her, they would be quick to tell you that she had indeed willed them all a fortune... a fortune of her infinite love.

I heard a song on my way to Columbia, SC on August 11, 2017 but did not catch the name or singer of the song. It contained the words "Happy finally in Heaven." This really touched me because I lost my youngest son (40 years old) on March 8, 2017 from a heart attack. It gave me some solace that he was happy finally. Nothing will ever fill the void but that song gave me some peace knowing he was happy. Please let me know the song and singer...would love for my husband to feel this same wonderful peace. Thank you. I have only heard one performance of Finally Home. It was performed by Diane Susek and the Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church choir, pianist, and organist at the funeral of D. James Kennedy back in 2007. Click on the link and go to the 21:50 mark to hear it.
