I'll Tell The World

Words and Music by Baynard L. Fox

I'll tell the world, that I'm a christian,
I'm not ashamed, His name to bear;
I'll tell the world, that I'm a christian,
I'll take Him with me anywhere.

I'll tell the world, how Jesus saved me,
and how He gave me a life brand new;
And I know that if you trust Him,
that all He gave me, He'll give to you.

I'll tell the world, that He's my Savior,
No other one, could love me so;
My life, my all is His forever,
and where He leads me I will go.

For when He comes, and life is over,
For those who love Him there's more to be;
Eyes have never seen the wonders,
That He's preparing, for you and me

Oh, tell the world, that you're a christian,
Be not ashamed, His name to bear;
Oh tell the world, that you're a christian,
And take Him with you anywhere.

I was a member of Baynard's Atlanta Christian Chorus for a number of years. We rehearsed in the choir rehearsal room of First Baptist Church (Peachtree Street) and on rehearsal nights three of us would carry Bayrnard in his wheel chair up the flight of steps from the third floor to the fourth.

He had monumental health problems yet, I never heard a word of despair or complaint. I count it as one of the most rewarding experiences of my life to have been a member of the chorus and to get to know Baynard.

i I possess a song written by Baynard Fox which he personally gave to me and is hand written. I would love to hear from his daughter and would share this song with her. Please Caroline Fox if you read this, send email to [email protected]. He gave this to me in Dayton Ohio sometime during the 50s.

I took piano lessons from Baynard Fox and he personally gave me two of his songs for piano. He was one of the kindest people I've ever known and had such a love for music. I was so sad to hear he passed away.

This song is also part of a missions "cantata" called "Go Tell Your World!" The "SMITE" singers from Liberty Baptist College (now Liberty University) had a book with the score, etc., but that was about 40 years ago. Maybe Amazon or EBay has a copy--I haven't seen one in a long time.

Free Spirit, a college-aged group of singers from the Free Methodist Church, also recorded this musical. I had both of these (on 8-tracks! Told you it was long ago!) and remember many a mile either singing along, weeping over lost souls, and remembering people I knew from my brief stint at LBC.

Bottom line, it's worth it to get it.
