I want to go where the milk and honey flow, where Jesus is the light, where he's building me a home

Post by Guest » Wed Sep 23, 2009 2:37 pm

I want to be where my Father waits for me. Longing for the day I'll finally stand...in the promised land. No need to beg or borrow, nothing else to bring along, in a land where there's no tomorrow for today is forever long.

Would like to know title, artist and where I can find the rest of the lyrics.

Thanks,
Tammy

Was looking for these lyrics as well and found them here
http://www.gordonsisters.com/PL.htm

They say the grass is green as jade in the Promise Land
And mossy trees give endless shade in the Promise Land
And a crystal river flows, I understand
I'm going there
I want to go there

They say the sky is sapphire blue in the Promise Land
And clouds will never dim the view in the Promise Land
And Jesus rules as Lord of all, I understand
I'm going there, I want to go there

I want to go where the milk and honey flows
Where Jesus is the light and He's building me a home, oh
I want to be, where my Father waits for me
I'm longing for the day I'll finally stand
In the Promise Land.

They say the days are timeless there in the Promise Land
And heartache doesn't have a prayer in the Promise Land
And the praises of our God are sung by every man
I'm going there
I want to go there.

Its actually the Promised Land.

Some of these lyrics are wrong on here, so here are the correct ones :

They say the grass is green as jade in the Promised Land
And mossy trees give endless shade in the Promised Land
And crystal waters flow like wine i understand
I'm going there
I'm going there

They say the sky is sapphire blue in the Promised Land
And rain will never cloud the view in the Promised Land
And Jesus rules as Lord of all at God's right hand
I'm going there, I'm going there.

Oh, oh, I want to go where the milk and honey flow
Where Jesus is the light, where He's building me a home, oh
I want to be, where my Father waits for me
Longing for the day I finally stand
In the Promised Land.

They say the days are timeless there in the Promised Land
And heartache doesn't have a prayer in the Promised Land
And praises of our God are sung by every man
I'm going there
I'm going there.

Oh, I want to go where the milk and honey flow
where Jesus is the light, where he's building me a home, oh
I want to be, where my father waites for me
Longing for the day I finally stand,
In the Promised Land

No need to beg or borrow
Nothing else to bring along
In a land where there's no tomorrow
'cause today is forever long.

Repeat Chorus.

Does anyone know who sings this song, other than the Gordon Sisters...the version on the radio?

Thanks!

The song was originally performed by Truth, directed by Bill Breland out of Mobile, Alabama. It was simultaneously performed by Mobile College (Now the University of Mobile) touring group MC Singers in 1989. You can probably contact the University of Mobile's music department. They should still have copies in their library. My copies are hand written original scores, so it is a little difficult to follow.

Oh for crying out loud, you young folks don't know anything. The song PROMISED LAND was written and composed by LARRY BRYANT, and first sang by BLIND, CHRISTIAN, JAZZ PIANIST and VOCALIST Terri Gibbs on her CD "COMFORT THE PEOPLE" in 1987.Stonebrook Music Company (SESAC) and TREE PUBLISHING COMPANY, 8 Music Square West, Nashville, TN37203 once held the rights to the song. Larry Bryant is a great songwriter and composer and he's easy enough to find. He's also a great guy. He'll probably have the chord charts somewhere I'm sure. Look for him on FACEBOOK. I have a copy of the words and music somewhere packed away and I'll see if I can find it. I'm Eddie Mc on FACEBOOK.
