Curious that no one knows the author has the written music? I would be interested if someone has the score for the parts: send to: [email protected]

This is so amazing to hear that so many others have been searching for this descant song ! I too sang it in elementary /junior high - can't remember which year. It was in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada in the late sixties or early seventies. I had the same (absolutely amazing music teacher - Mr. Lee Brodeur - from grades 4 to 9. He was the most amazing musical influence of my life - I learned so much from him and thanks to him, I am now teaching a option of choral music to junior high kids which is so much fun !

Kate, I have been searching for this for years too, could you email me what you have please ? Thanks so much !

I am so glad I found this forum. I have been looking for the lyrics of this descant myself. I sang this so many times, every Christmas, with our church youth choir in the 70's. I can memorize the first stanza/verse but I can't remember the second one where it mentions something like "Jesus Lord, Jesus Lord at thy birth, thy birth!" Kate please please could send me a copy of it, too! God bless you always! [email protected] Thanks so much in advance!

Kate,
I would like a copy as well. I sang this in my dad's choir years ago. He has been gone since 1981. My daughter is a Coir director and I know would love to use it at Christmas. [email protected]

THANK YOU , people, thank you. I learned this in 5th grade - Christmas 1971... I truly thought I was the only person left who remembered it (well, of anyone I would meet in my lifetime, that is). Silent Night/'Neath the Silent Stars is most beautiful carol, IMHO. Mrs Pippino's version:
'Neath the silent stars a town is sleeping;
Flocks are safe within the fold
secure from danger, want, or cold.
Silent, silent night.
Holy, holy night.
Sleep in peace.
Sleep in heavenly peace,
in peace.

I, too, learned this from my junior high choir director Mr. Richard Thompson in the mid-1970's, and I, too, thought I was the only one who recalled it! I wrote out a half-remembered, half made-up version for my church choir in the 90's, but a subsequent choir director purged it from the files because it was photocopied. We really need an official published version, if anyone can find one! In the meantime, add me to the list of folks who would like a copy: vmoore156 at gmail dot com. Thank you all so much for the words as well!
