Jonah was an immigrant, so runs the Bible tale
He took a steerage passage on a transatlantic whale.
But something in his stomach caused the whale to feel upset
So Jonah pressed the button and the whale did the rest.

Another version of Salome:

Salome was a chorus girl, she danced a wicked step;
She came before the king one night and showed a lot of pep.
Get out . . . the king exclaimed, we'll have no rough stuff here.
The Hell you say, Salome cried, and kicked the chandelier!

...a verse I remember as a boy in the 50's:

Sampson was a strong man, strongest in the land. He can lift anything dynamite can. He leaned against the temple and the temple fell and everybody ran like he_ _.

First came Adam, first man invented.
He lived all alone but he never was contented.
He was formed outta mud in the days gone by and
Hung on a fence in the sun to dry.

Along came Eve and they had a great battle.
She climbed up a tree and knocked down an apple.
She knocked down two, and they each had one and
Ever since then the trouble's begun.

Adam was a gardener and Eve, she was his spouse,
They got the sack for stealing fruit and started keeping house.
They lived a very quiet life, 'twas peaceful in the main,
Until they had a baby and they started raising Cain.

Jonah was a sailor, so goes the Bible tale.
He took steerage passage on a transatlantic whale.
But Jonah didn't like it, though the service was the best
So he pushed a little button and the whale did the rest.

Jacob had a coat of many colors which he wore,
His brothers hadn't any and it made them mighty sore
So they took him and they beat him and they threw him in the sewer
Then they sent him down to Egypt just to take a little tour.

Pharoah's lovely daughter was bathing by the brook
Found Moses in the rushes, and homewards him she took
When she said to Pharaoh, "I found him by the shore,"
Pharaoh winked his eye and said "I've heard that one before!"

David and Solomon lived very wicked lives
Got up to lots of mischief with other people's wives
Still, when it came to preaching, they found they had no qualms
One wrote the Proverbs and the other wrote the Psalms!

Daniel was a wise guy who went before the king.
The king wouldn't stand for any such thing.
So he put him in a manhole with lions beneath,
But Daniel was a dentist so he pulled the lion's teeth.

Always another variation.
Was just talking over old songs etc and I recall this song (chorus) that MY dad used to sing.

But HIS variation was ... ...

Young folks, old folks, everybody come
To our little Sunday school and make yourselves at home.
Bring your to-ffee ap-ples and sit upon the floor
And we'll tell you Bible stories that you never heard before.

Sampson was a strong boy from Jeffrey Johnson school
He had the strength of thousands, the jawbone of a mule
But one day came Delilah and cut his pretty locks
And all the strength that Sampson had was in his dirty socks.
