Samson was a strong man of Jeffrey Johnson School
He had the strength of thousands and the jawbone of a mule
A woman named Delilah filled him up with gin
So he pushed a temple over and the coppers ran him in.

Young folks, old folks everybody come.
Come and join the Sunday school, and you'll have a lot of fun.
Check your chewing gum and raisins at the door
and you'll hear a lot of bible stories you've never heard before.

Adam was the first man that ever was invented
He lived all alone and he never was contented
They made him out of mud in the days gone by
And they hung him on the fence in the sun to dry.

Along came Eve and they had a great battle,
She chased him up an apple tree, he knocked an apple.
He knocked down two and they each took one,
And that's the way the trouble begun.
Along came Noah, stumblin in the dark
Found himself a hammer and he built himself an ark
In came the animals, two by two
The hippajanjareemy and the kickin' kangaroo
In came the elephant
In came the bear
In came the baboon, without any hair
For forty days and forty nights they sailed across the sea
But they kicked the lion out just because he had to pee.

This was the Chicago Methodist Church’s version my Dad would sing.

Old folks young folks everybody come
Join the merry Sunday School and have a lot of fun
Place to park your raisins and your chewing gum at the door
And you’ll hear some Bible stories that you’ve never heard before.

Noah was the keeper of the Adriatic (?) zoo
Built an ocean liner when he had nothing else to do
Got a bit excited when the sky began to dark
So he gathered all the animals and put them in the Ark.

It rained for 40 days and it rained for 40 nights
Rained so long it washed the land completely out of sight
Just when Noah was wondering what he ought to do
The Ark it struck Mt Arrat (sp) and stuck as tight as glue.

David was a shepherd’s lad, his mother’s pride and joy
Father gave him a slingshot, a harmless little toy
Goliath lumbered up the hill a true and fighting fool
And David slew Goliath with the jawbone of a mule.

I can’t remember the first 3 lines ..
but Daniel was a dentist and he pulled the lion’s teeth.

Here are a couple more verses

David and Solomon led very lusty lives
With lots and lots of concubines, and very many wives
But when in old age both had the qualms
Solomon wrote the Proverbs and David wrote the Psalms.

Jonah was a landsman who never had set sail
He booked himself a passage on a trans-Atlantic whale
But when the fishy atmosphere grew heavy on his chest
Jonah punched a button and the whale did the rest.

The earth was made in six days and finished on the seventh
According to the contract it should have been the eleventh
But the carpenter got drunk and the mason wouldn't work
So the cheapest thing to do was to fill it full of dirt.
