I love the message of the song, that JESUS is always on our side whatever life's situation we have. I wish our non catholic brothers will hear this and they may realized we are much Christ and bible centered like them. RTF of Las Pinas

I have just cried and felt so uplifted after hearing Daniel O'Donnell sing this hymn.
Thank you so much for the words.

I am a Southern Baptist minister, and attended a Mass with my mom a year or so back.I snickered at her discomfot at being in a Catholic church-but when they sang this hymn I fell quiet and reverent.I had never heard the song before, yet I knew it like a mother.
I looked and saw that it was based on Isaiah 43-my mom from this to me when I was a little boy(the first Scripture I ever heard).
Please email me a copy of these lyrics?!

In response to 11/9/10 post - same thing happened to me this afternoon. The "be not afraid" lyrics started to flood through my head and sadness was immediately emersed on me and I started to cry. Beautiful, beautiful song

BE NOT AFRAID

Rocked by waves and howling winds
And the storm that threatened them
The disciples sailed a boat on Galilee
They were tired and full of fright
They had fought the storm all night
Then the master came walking on the sea

Be not afraid for it is I, in the fourth watch of the night
You fought and prayed, but I am here and it's alright
The storm will rage, the winds will blow
But they are under my control
It won't be long 'til morning breaks
Be not afraid

Hope seems gone, the day is done
And the night is pressing on
The Doctor said that they've done all that they can do
Around the clock the family prays
But help's already on the way
Without a doubt, another doctor's in the room

Be not afraid for it is I, in the fourth watch of the night
You fought and prayed, but I am here and it's alright
The storm will rage, the winds will blow
But they are under my control
It won't be long 'til morning breaks
Be not afraid

Be not afraid for it is I, in the fourth watch of the night
You fought and prayed, but I am here and it's alright
The storm will rage, the winds will blow
But they are under my control
It won't be long 'til morning breaks
Be not afraid
The storm will rage, the winds will blow
But they are under my control
It won't be long 'til morning breaks
Be not afraid
Be not afraid

This was composed in 1975 by a Jesuit priest, Bob Dufford, who currently lives in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.

I found a Latin mass with this same title when I was researching St. Stephen, who yesterday in many places & times was celebrated on the 26th. I'd appreciate any info about how it might be related.

Isaiah 43

1 But now thus saith the LORD that created thee, O Jacob, and he that formed thee, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine.

2 When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.
