Hi I am looking for a very old hymn called After, I can only remember a few words, He will be waiting for me, Jesus so kind a true, on His beautiful throne. He will welcome me home, after the day is through. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

AFTER
Words & Music by N.B.Vandall (20th Century)
(c)1932 by Harry D. Clarke
Published in The King's Songs
ed. Percy and Ruth Crawford
Van Kampan Press, 1938

Verse 1:
After the toil and the heat of the day,
After my troubles are past,
After the sorrows are taken away, I shall see Jesus at last.

Chorus:
He will be waiting for me, Jesus, so kind and true.
On His beautiful throne He will welcome me home
After the Day is through.

Verse 2:
After the heartaches and sighing shall cease,
After the cold winter's blast,
After the conflict comes glorious peace: I shall see Jesus at last.

Verse 3:
After the shadows of evening shall fall,
After my anchor is cast.
After I list to my glorious peace, I shall see Jesus at last.

I searched for that tune for years after my Father died . I have recently discovered it in a box of sheet music left to me by my late Sister , it is truly a beautiful song .

This and "Overshadowed were 2 of my Mother's favorite hymns! I have the music to "After" but not " Overshadowed."

The 3rd verse is: " After the shadows of evening shall fall, after my anchor is cast; after I list to my Savior's last call, I shall see Jesus at last ."

What a beautiful song!! I haven't heard it is many years; probably since the 60's...I haven't been able to find the sheet music for it.

This was one of my grandmothers favorites and it was sung at her funeral. Thank you for sharing the lyrics!

Some of us may remember C. W. Burpo's "The Bible Institute of the Air" radio program. He sang that song on several occasions. Every time I heard it, it seemed to me he was looking into Heaven. Just the thing this (ex-) high school boy needed back in the 70's before catching the bus!
