Do you know who wrote this song? I have researced and found that Bill Harmon wrote part of it, but who wrote verses 1 and 2 (from the above entries)?

The way I learned it was:

Surely goodness and mercy will follow me,
All the days, all the days of my life;
Surely goodness and mercy will follow me,
All the days, all the days of my life.

And I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever,
And I will feast at the table spread for me;
Surely goodness and mercy will follow me,
All the days, all the days of my life.
All the days, all the days of my life.

Wow.. I've been looking for this song for years. I remember a visiting preacher who would come to our church when I was a kid and sing this song - It was beautiful. Using all this great info, I looked this song up on iTunes, and I found a version of it that is sung by Gary Brewer and the Kentucky Ramblers.. Yes, it's Bluegrass, but if you need to hear the melody and tune of the song, then this verison will work well enough. Thanks for all the help everyone! :) God Bless!

We sing this song at church its almost the same:
On a dark and stormy night on the sea of Galilee
The disciples were so fearful at the fury of the sea
when upon the rushing water in the darkness of the night
walked the blessed Lord of Glory, Walked the master and the Christ
Chorus:
Reach out and touch the Lord as he goes by
you'll find he's not to busy to answer your cry
He's passing by each moment, All your need he will supply
reach out and touch the Lord as he goes by

As he walked the dusty wayside on his way to raise the dead
Mighty was the crowd that thronged him, hungry for the living bread
I must touch him, cried a woman, I must touch him err I die
so she reached and touched his garment as he passed by
Chorus:

Matthew sat in worldly honor, taking tax from all who came
till one day the Lord passed by him, and he called him by his name
come and follow me, he whispered. Do not wait to question why
so he arose and followed Jesus as he passed by
Chorus:

Hope this is helpful Roger

Steveliu, today was the first day I located your site. It's great! I was searching for lyrics to this song because I'm adding lyrics pages to my web site and didn't have time to retype them from my audio. I know several verses to "Reach Out And Touch The Lord" as I sang it for many years. Here are the verses I know. There may have been more written, however.

Reach Out And Touch The Lord

If your heart is sad and lonely, there's no joy anywhere.
If there's no one left to comfort, and there's no one left to care.
Just cast your cares on Jesus and upon His arms rely,
And reach out and touch the Lord as He walks by.

Chorus:
Reach out and touch the Lord as He goes by.
You will find He's not too busy to hear your heart's cry.
He's passing by this moment, your needs He'll supply,
Just reach out and touch the Lord as He walks by.

Though a stranger to the Master and His wonderful grace.
If you've never had the pleasure in beholding His face.
Would you lay aside earth's treasures for a home in the sky,
Then, reach out and touch the Lord as He walks by.

(Chorus)

All along a dusty roadside, on His way to raise the dead.
Mighty was the crowd that followed, hungry for that Living Bread.
"I must touch Him", cried a woman, "I must touch Him or I'll die."
So she reached and touched His garment as he passed by.

Chorus:
Reach out and touch the Lord as He goes by.
You will find He's not too busy to hear your heart's cry.
He's passing by this moment, your needs He'll supply,
Just reach out and touch the Lord as He goes by.

God bless you with this wonderful site! On my "Favorites" page, I have many lyrics that you are welcome to copy and use in your site if you wish. It's a work in progress and I'm adding daily as I have time.
