I need the lyrics to "Swing Low Sweet Chariot". This is an old one and one my Dad and Mother used to sing. Also "Black Is The Color". Thanks!

Swing Low Sweet Chariot

Chorus:
Swing low, sweet chariot, coming for to carry me home,
swing low, sweet chariot, coming for to carry me home.

Verse: 1
I looked over Jordan, and what did I see, coming for to carry me home,
a band of angels coming after me, coming for to carry me home.

Verse: 2
If you get there before I do, coming for to carry me home,
tell all my friends I'm coming, too, coming for to carry me home.

Verse: 3
I'm sometimes up and sometimes down, coming for to carry me home,
but still my soul feels heavenly bound, coming for to carry me home.

Verse: 4
The brightest day that I can say, coming for to carry me home,
when Jesus washed my sins away, coming for to carry me home.

Shirley,
This is a traditional folk song from the Applichian Mountains
but originated in Scotland. If this is the one your grandaughter
is looking for it is as follows:

Black is the colour of my true love's hair.
His lips are something wond'rous fair
The purest eyes and the bravest hands.
I love the grass whereon he stands.
I love my love and well he knows,
I love the ground whereon he goes
And if my love no more I see
My life would quickly fade away.
Black, black, black is the colour of my true love's hair.
There are other versions and I'd be glad to post them
but don't want to unless we're on the right track.
Speaking of grandkids, I'll be gone for the next few days
visiting for Thanksgiving so I wont be on-line.

I'd like to convey a Wonderful Thanksgiving to everyone.
This forum is a blessing and I am thankful I found it this year

Black is the color of my true love's hair
Her lips are like some roses fair
She has the sweetest smile the gentlest hands
And I love the ground whereon she stands

I love my love, and well she knows
I love the ground whereon she goes
I wish the day soon would come
When she and I will be as one

And black is the color of my true love's hair
Her lips are like some roses fair
She has the sweetest smile the gentlest hands
And I love the ground whereon she stands

I go to the Clyde and mourn and weep
But satisfied I never shall be
I'll write her a letter with a few short lines
and suffer death a thousand times

And black is the color of my true love's hair
Her lips are like some roses fair
She has the sweetest smile the gentlest hands
And I love the ground whereon she stands
I love the ground whereon she stands
I love the ground whereon she stands

Because this is a traditional folk song
the versions very and oft times
HER and HE were switched
Here is one other version:

Black is the color of my true love's hair,
Her lips are something rosy fair.
The prettiest face and the daintiest hands,
I love the grass whereon she stands
.
I love my love, and well she knows,
I love the grass whereon she goes.
If she on earth no more I see,
My life will quickly heed ye.

I'll go to troublesome to mourn, to weep,
But satisfied, I ne'er shall sleep.
I'll write her a note in a few little lines,
And suffer death ten thousand times.

Black is the color of my true love's hair,
Her lips are something rosy fair.
The prettiest face and the daintiest hands,
I love the grass whereon she stands.
