Is it the one "You can have a song in your heart at night"?

It begins:

You can have a melody down in your heart...

And the chorus is:

You can have a song in your heart in the night,
After every trial, after every mile
Anyone can sing when the sun's shining bright
But you need a song in your heart at night.

I can post the complete lyrics if this is the one you are looking for.

God bless

You can have a melody down in your heart
When it's aching, almost breaking
Even though the sorrow makes the teardrop start
You can have a melody down in your heart.

CHORUS
You can have a song in your heart in the night,
After every trial, after every mile
Anyone can sing when the sun's shining bright
But you need a song in your heart at night.

Do not let your worries drive your song away,
Though tomorrow brings its sorrow
Just remember after night time comes the day
Do not let your worries drive your song away.

Soon the night will pass and morning bring the day
I am longing for its dawning
Until then we'll labour here and watch and pray
Soon the night will pass and morning bring the day.

I grew up singing & playing this song on the piano. One of my favorites. It is in one of my songbooks, but can not find it now. Glad you have it on Google.

Our pastor and his wife used to sing this when they cam to our church 35 years ago and they have been trying to remember the words without much success except for the chorus. They will be thrilled with this. Thanks so much!

I would like to know who holds the copyright for " You can have a song in your heart " - It was written by Ira Stanphill but I don't think the company he started is still maintained. Thanks for any info. By the way I do think it is still under copyright, am I correct?

I believe songs written by Ira Stanphill are still under copyright, as copyright lasts until 50 years after the author's/composer's death. Ira Stanphill was still alive 15 years or so ago, may still be.

I grew up in a Spanish speaking church and my mom and dad have been singing this hymn in Spanish for almost 50 years! Mom heard it on the radio just last week in English and begged me to find it on-line. She wants to sing it with my father at the English speaking church they now attend. Thanks soooo much for the lyrics. What a blessing!
