Does anyone know who wrote the song "MERCY" on the Vestel Goodman's CD "Joy for the journey"?

WOW, Carolla. I hope you see this. You have just saved our day. My husband is a singer in a very small, struggling church. He is scheduled to sing in church this very morning. Well, 30 minutes before he was to leave to rehearse with the pianist, she called him to say she's sick, and cannot be there to play for him. With no other pianist available, he had to abandon the
music he had planned to sing, and fall back on an accompaniment tape of the song "The Broken Vessel". Frantic, he went to his music files......couldn't find the lyrics.....what to do? I clicked on to this site, first song, "no, that's not the one" second song...."no, that's not the one" At last, I found your message. Praise, God....that's the one!!!! I typed them out, printed and handed them to him and he was gone to church. Thanks a million times over, we would have been lost without those lyrics.

I have desparately been searching for the words I saw on a bereavement card sent to a friend of mine that had lost her son. It was in the late 1970's. I can't remember if it was on a card or on a plac. I just know it was so beautifully written. The only words I recall are; He's not gone he's just away. It made references to the fact that although he is dearly missed, that we will be together again, cause he's not gone he's just away. Please if anyone knows the words I am looking for please write me at: [email protected]

Hey, Sue five ten! I think that I have found the poem that you were looking for. I have seen it many times on sympathy cards. I thought that it was written either by Helen Steiner Rice or Emily Matthews, but the web site that I found it on suggested a couple of other writers. But, here goes:

"He Is Not Dead"

I cannot say, and will not say,
That he is dead. He is just away.
With a cheery smile, and a wave of the hand,
He has wondered into an unknown land.
And left us dreaming how very fair
It's needs must be since he lingers there.
And you - O you, who the wildest yearn
For the old-time step and the glad return -
Think of him faring on, as dear
In the love of there as the love of here;
Think of him still as the same, I say;
For he is not dead - he is just away.

The song that I know as "Broken Vessels" is the one recorded by The Florida Boys, recorded on their "Saved By Grace" cd, writen by Nanacy Click Banfield, and goes something like this:

"Broken Vessels"

One day throughout the market place,
A potter searched and roamed,
He was looking for a vessel,
To purchase for his own.

There were many brought before him there
All shiny, bright and new
But he shook his head and told "No,
These vessels will not do."

Chorus: Bring me broken vessels
Shattered pieces made of clay
Bring me broken vessels
Ones the world has thrown away.
I will take them in my able hands,
And make them over new
Bring me broken vessels
And see what I can do.

V2: I once was lost, and scarred by sin,
Until I realized,
Unless Isought the Master's touch,
My soul would not survive.

So, I brought my vessel as it was
And gave it all to Him;
And now I'm bound for Heaven,
And my vessel overflows.

(repeat chorus)

Tag: I will take them in my able hands
And make them over new;
Just bring me broken vessels
And see what I can do.

Broken Vessel (Jeff Majors featuring LaShell Griffin)

The Potter saw a vessel, that was broken by the wind and rain
And he sought with so much compassion
To make it over again.
You see, I was that vessel, that no one thought was any good
I cried Lord, You are the potter and I am the clay
Make me over again someday.
Life's circumstances came and shattered my very world
And the cares of my life left me lying right there.
I was alone and I was broken
And no one thought I was any good
That's when I cried Lord, You are the potter and I am the clay
Make me over again today.

Refrain: Jesus picked up the pieces of my broken heart that day,
Jesus picked up the pieces, and He revived my soul today.

BROKEN VESSEL - Caitlin Jane

You turn these ashes into beauty,
The darkness into light.
You lead me on this narrow valley,
Heal my blinded sight.
It's in You I find my refuge,
In You I find my strength.
Apart from You I know that I can find no better thing.

Chorus
Take this broken vessel of my life,
On my own I'm crippled in this fight.
But when I let go of all my hopes and dreams,
I find Your treasure here my heart within.

God You are my soul security,
My boundary is complete.
I praise You as you counsel me.
I'm humbled at Your feet.
In the night You are here with me,
You will not abandon me.
You have made known to me the path of this life.

Chorus
Take this broken vessel of my life,
On my own I'm crippled in this fight.
When I let go of all my hopes and dreams,
I find Your treasure here my heart within.

I have my heart set on eternity,
Because this joy inside
Reminds me of Your presence
in which I will abide.
You send Your manna down from heaven,
Oh God I seek You first.
You're leading me to Living Waters,
You satisfy my thirst"¦
