Hi trackbfootball,

Thanks for sharing...it's always great when the families of the great songwriters and composers post their insights on the board.

We'd love to hear any more memories and insights you have about your grandfather and his hymn writing. Aside from helping people find lyrics, one thing I love about our little online community is that it's a way for us to share and preserve lyrics and stories that might otherwise be lost.

God bless!

The Far side banks of Jordan was written by Terry Smith
It was also the favorite song of Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash
wonderful song!!

I don't know the other song, but it sounds like it might be good also!

Trackbfootball......
Can you please put the lyrics to the whole song on here.... And if anyone knows where I can find the lyrics or even hear the song I Welcome You Now, To Meet Me Up There.
If I'm not mistaken The Inspirations sang it at one time.
Thanks
Jessica

trackbfootball..
I would love to find the music to this song. The first time I heard it was at my Dad's funeral. I have searched high and low but can not find it. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Robbie

I'LL BE WAITING AT THE RIVER

Bflat

G C G
If I have to make the crossing of the Jordan deep and wide
D
And you linger in this life, I Promise You.
G C G
When your life on earth is over, and you come to cross the tide
D G
I'll be waiting at the River for you.

C G
No more heart aches, no more sorrow, no tears to dim the eyes
D
I will never say goodbye again to you.
G C G
Hand in hand we'll stroll together, walking Heaven's Avenue
D G
I'll be waiting at the river for you.

C G
Just beyond that shining river, lies a land of pure delight
D
Where someday I'll start a life again anew
G C G
And in my Mansion built by Jesus where no one shall never die
D G
I'll be waiting at the river for you.

Chorus

I Welcome You Now:

Some glad day, ___ Some wonderful day ___
Jesus will come, ___ and take us away ___
To that fair home, ___ to meet me up there __
I welcome you now, ___ to meet me up there ___

I welcome you now, ___ I know it's His will ___
I read in His Word, ___ I know that it's real ___
O come won't you please, ___ And leave earthly care ___
I welcome you now, ___ to meet me up there ___

Just any day, ___ we'll move away ___
To our new home, ___ where we shall stay ___
While ages roll, ___ without a care ___
I welcome you now, ___ to meet me up there ___.
