TWO SHOES
by: Wilma Jo Tomblin

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Listen to the Tune

1. It was at a little front porch sale she stopped to look around.
She saw those two shoes, Sunday slippers, a bargain to be found.
But her husband did not know the Lord, so what good were they to him?
But God said, "Just believe, you will receive", so she took Him at His word.
2. Now time passed on, and she wondered if, she'd ever see the day
He'd wear those two shoes, Sunday slippers, and to the church house make his way.
Then it happened on one Sunday morn, as she started out the door
He said, "Wait for me," she turned to see those two shoes walking cross the floor.

CHORUS:

And there were two shoes, a prayer, and a promise God would keep
To save the soul of the one who wore those two shoes on his feet.
She held them as she prayed each day, as the tears ran down her cheeks.
There were two shoes, a prayer and a promise God would keep.

BREAK:

Now the preacher spoke of Calvary, of the old rugged cross
Of how Jesus came and He gave His life to save all the lost.
When He gave the invitation, he saw what brought a smile,
He saw those two shoes, Sunday slippers, come-a walking down the aisle.

CHORUS:

And there were two shoes, a prayer, and a promise God kept so sweet,
To save the soul of the one who wore those two shoes on his feet.
He wore them as he prayed that day, while the tears ran down his face,
There were two shoes, a prayer, and, a sinner saved by grace.

Repeat: last chorus

Tag: There were two shoes, a prayer, and a sinner saved by grace.

CHORUS:

THE TRAMP ON THE STREET
------Hank Williams

Only a tramp was Lazarus sad fate
He who lay down at the rich man's gate
He begged for the crumbs from the rich man to eat
He was only a tramp found dead on the street.
He was some mother's darlin', he was some mother's son
Once he was fair and once he was young
Some mother rocked him, her darlin' to sleep
But they left him to die like a tramp on the street.
Jesus, He died on Calvary's tree
Shed His life's blood for you and for me
They pierced His sides, His hands and His feet
And they left Him to die like a tramp on the street.
He was Mary's own darlin', he was God's chosen Son
Once He was fair and once He was young
Mary, she rocked Him, her darlin' to sleep
But they left Him to die like a tramp on the street.
If Jesus should come and knock on your door
For a place to come in, or bread from your store
Would you welcome Him in, or turn Him away
Then the God's would deny you on the Great Judgement Day.
Only a tramp was Lazarus sad fate
He who lay down at the rich man's gate
He begged for some crumbs from the rich man to eat
But they left him to die like a tramp on the street.
He was some mother's darlin', he was some mother's son
Once he was fair and once he was young
Some mother once rocked him, her darlin' to sleep
But they left him to die like a tramp on the street.
Jesus, He died on Calvary's tree
Shed His life's blood for you and for me
They pierced His side, His hands and His feet
And they left Him to die like a tramp on the street.
He was Mary's own darlin', he was God's chosen Son
Once He was fair and once He was young

But they left Him to die like a tramp on the street.

Would you welcome Him in, or turn Him away
Then the God's would deny you on the Great Judgement Day.
