Help - two old gospel songs - i wanna go there / the bride coming in
I just fount your website, and I'm excited - I'vbe been trying to remember versus to two songs now for years... Growing up in a little hometown church, I recall some lyrics to two upbeat songs that were sung by a little gospel group. Any help that you can give on the remaining lyrics, song titles, original artists, etc. would be useful. I'll provide as many lyrics as I can remember for both songs, and add ... where I don't know or remember the lyrics
SONG #1
The versus here are quick, and I'm not sure I even understood all of the words when I heard them. I only remember that one of the versus started with:
"Now listen to me brother......"
The chorus, goes something like this:
"ooo to the right"
"ooo to the left"
"ooo straight up..."
"Well, I want to there, when he calls, my number
Well, I want to go there, when he calls, my name
O Lord I pray..(and sing and shout)..God's praises....and I know he'll welcome me there"
SONG #2
Again, I don't recall many of the verses here, but in at least one of the versus, I recall the phrase:
"I got a vision of a great celebration
The day Jesus saved me from sin"
...
"And now my adornment is a new blood washed garment"
"...and the sight of (them all coming in?)..."
Chorus:
"Coming in from the North
Coming in from the South
Coming in from the East and the West
And I see the wonder sweep over their faces,
This is the part I love best"
***
(I'm not sure whether the following is part of verse or a continuation of the chorus
***
"Their all looking up, in the face of the father
And some of them burst into song
And some of them run with the swiftness of eagles
While making their way to the throne"
Thanks for you help!

Help - two old gospel songs - i wanna go there / the bride coming in
Hi Wayne,
There's a little group called "The Washams" that has a song with a chorus that matches the first set of lyrics you mentioned.
ONE GLORIOUS DAY
by The Washams
1.
Well I've heard it all of my life how the church will be called away,
To a land where the milk and honey flows;
Well I know not the hour and I know not the day,
But I'm going home one glorious day.
Chorus
It's not a question of why and how, it's a question of when and where,
I will be when Gabriel blows that golden sound;
Then I will look to the Eastern sky for I know my redemption's nigh,
And I'm going home one glorious day.
2.
Well I'm cast down but not forsaken, I'm persecuted but not destroyed,
Because Jesus, He's always by my side;
And when the fire begins to fall and we're called up above it all,
We'll thank the Lord for His amazing grace.
Chorus
3.
Well I want to go there when He calls my number,
I want to go there when He calls my name;
Oh Lord I pray and shout and sing God's praises,
And I know He'll welcome me there.
Chorus
Not sure if this is the one, but you can search for more clues on their Web site:

Help - two old gospel songs - i wanna go there / the bride coming in
Steve,
Thanks for taking a stab.
I don't think One Glorious Day is the song I'm looking for - as none of your lyrics ring a bell. Also, that song doesn't have some of the verse/words that I do distintctly remember...Wierd that it does have the same chorus though... Definitely a good guess!
Any other takers out there!?? On either of the songs here?
Thanks,
Wayne

Wayne,
I believe the name of "song #1" is I Wanna Go There. It was recorded by a group called The Faith Trio back in the 70s. Can't remember who wrote it, and I haven't been able to find the lyrics yet either. I'll keep looking, and will let you know if I find it.

Wayne I think you are correct about the name. Here's how I know it:
Well, one of these mornings and it won't be long
you're gonna look for me child and I'll be gone
you're gonna walk right up and sit at the throne
and sing howdy, howdy, howdy, howdy, howdy
Gonna move to the left
gonna move to the right
gonna move up higher
and I wanna go there when he calls my number
and I wanna go there when he calls my name
oh, Lord well you know I prayed and I shouted and I sang God's praises
and I know He'll welcome me there
Gotta mother over there
Gotta daddy over there
Gotta mother, gotta daddy, gotta sister, gotta brother, gotta aunt, I gotta uncle, Lord I got 'em by the dozens
and I wanna go there when he calls my number
and I wanna go there when he calls my name
oh, Lord well you know I prayed and I shouted and I sang God's praises
and I know He'll welcome me there
And I know he'll welcome me there.
(I know some groups around the southeast that currently sing it. My favorite is when they sing it fast and accapella. It sounds awesome!)

Wayne, I too want the name of that hymn. They play that song on a radio station here every Sunday morning. So I've contacted the station and am hoping for a response.
