Mother At Your Feet Is Kneeling

I remember my mother singing this to all the babies. It has a beautiful melody. Unfortunately, I never asked her what the lyrics were and now she is gone. I used to just hum most of it because I didn't know the words. Has anyone ever heard of it? I'm not even sure what the title is.

Mother At Your Feet Is Kneeling

Post by steveliu » Sat Jul 03, 2010 4:06 pm

I believe this is an old Catholic hymn from the early part of the last century. Found this on a few Catholic web sites:

1.
Mother at your feet is kneeling,
One who loves you 'tis your child
Who has sought so oft to see you.
Bless me Mother, bless your child.
Mother, when my Jesus calls me
From this world so dark and drear;
From the wily snares of Satan,
Shield me Mother, Mother dear.

Chorus
Dearest Mother, tell my Jesus,
How I love Him fond and true;
And oh Mary, dearest Mother,
Tell Him I belong to you.

2.
Plead for me when Jesus judges,
Answer for me when He asks;
How I spent so many moments
How perform so many tasks.
Mary, oh my dearest Mother
May it e'er to me be giv'n;
As on earth I fondly love Thee
So, to love Thee still in Heav'n .

Thanks,
Steve

We buried my Babci on Saturday at 104 years of age. This was her favorite hymn, and I promised her it would be sung. I thought it was the best part of her funeral Mass. Beautiful ! -- Therese Bradley, Philadelphia

I just love that song, and I'm 67 and sang it in grade school.
I will be singing it tonight at my nephew's wake, at 24 he committed suicide.
So I'm asking the Blessed Mother to intervene for him.

MY MOTHER IS 88 YEARS OLD, AND SANG THIS SONG AS A CHILD. IT HAS ALWAYS BEEN ONE OF HER FAVORITE SONGS TO OUR BLESSED MARY. SHE NOW HAS LESS THAN ONE MONTH TO LIVE. SHE ASK ME A LONG TIME AGO TO SING IT AT HER FUNERAL. I DON'T KNOW IF I WILL HAVE THE STRENGTH! PLEASE PRAY FOR ME THAT I CAN FILL MY DYING MOTHER'S REQUEST!

MOTHER, AT YOUR FEET IS KNEELING

Wedding Version:

Mother, at your feet is kneeling
On this happy wedding day
To your love and care appealing
Asking guidance on our way.
Sanctify each joy and sorrow.
Bless each morn with your sweet smile.
From your wisdom may we borrow.
Hear and bless us, Mother mild.

Chorus
Tell our Jesus that we love Him true.
Thy love, too, we wish to share.
And, dear Mother, we give unto you
Our love to hold within your care.
