The Ground Is Level

Verse 1:
You may own earth's silver
Have riches untold
But all of earth's wealth, my friend
Won't save your soul
You may live in a mansion
All the world know your name
But at the foot of the cross, my friend
Everyone stands the same.

Chorus:
The ground is level at the foot of the cross.
Anyone may come there for there is no cost
Rich man or poor man, bonded or free.
The ground was leveled that day at Calvary.

Verse 2:
You may be a beggar
Have nothing to wear
May eat at a table
Without one crumb to spare
But at the foot of they cross, my friend
You may stand by a king
'Cause all of earth's money
Won't be worth anything.

Chorus:

Tag:
Rich man or poor man,
Bonded or Free
The ground was leveled that day at Calvary.

The Ground Is Level

1. I stood before the cross...and a king stood by me
And on the other side...a vagabond
And there as we prayed....and poured our hearts out to Jesus
He bent to hear everyone

2. No matter who you are...whether rich or a beggar
The call is sent to whosoever will
Just kneel at the cross...and tell the Lord that you need Him
Your thirsty soul He will fill

Ch: The ground is level...at the foot of the cross
No man stands higher than I
I can call on Jesus' name...and a king can do the same
The ground is level at the foot of the cross!

ANOTHER GREAT SONG ENTITLED "THE GROUND IS LEVEL"
WRITTEN BY STEPHEN PHILLIPS
RECORDED BY THE PHILLIPS FAMILY
www.thephillipsfamilymusic.com

1. HE WALKED DOWN THE ISLE OF THE CHURCH PRAYING TO THE LORD
IN A TIME OF SEPERATION IN THE DAYS OF CIVIL WAR.
THE GENERAL KNELT DOWN BESIDE AN OLE SLAVE THERE TO PRAY
WHEN THE SCOFFERS ASKED WHY HE WOULD KNEEL BESIDE HIM
HERES, WHAT HE HAD TO SAY.........

CHORUS
THE GROUND IS LEVEL AT THE CROSS
MAKES NO DIFFERENCE WHO YOU ARE OR WHERE YOU COME FROM
RICH OR POOR, BOND OR FREE, JESUS DIED FOR ALL
THE GROUND IS LEVEL AT THE CROSS

2. HE WAS SITTING BY THE WELL THAT DAY WHEN SHE CAME WALKING BY
A SAMARITIAN OF LITTLE WORTH TRAPPED IN SIN MOST OF HER LIFE
BUT HE DID NOT REFUSE HER FOR WHO SHE WAS OR WHAT SHE HAD DONE
FOR SALVATION IS FOR WHOSOEVER WILL COME BY THE WAY OF THE CROSS.....

CHORUS
THE GROUND IS LEVEL AT THE CROSS
MAKES NO DIFFERENCE WHO YOU ARE OR WHERE YOU COME FROM
RICH OR POOR BOND OR FREE JESUS DIED FOR ALL
THE GROUND IS LEVEL AT THE CROSS

No power can take away all the joy I've found in Jesus, although the world will try my faith to shake. Just call on His name and tell the Lord that you need him and your every step He'll help you take.
