Hymn search - They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength

Post by Guest » Sun Jul 08, 2012 2:15 am

We have sang this song for seventy years. I do not know how long before that.
It is scripture and was always sang with these two scriptures as the verses.

Those who wait upon the Lord, shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings as an eagle.
They shall run and not grow weary, they shall walk and shall not faint
Teach me Lord teach me Lord to wait.

Those who wait upon the Lord Shall be as Mount Zion, which cannot be removed, but abideth for ever.
As the mountains a round Jerusalem, so is our God around His people,
From henceforth even forever.

These are the scriptures and some follow up scriptures as well.
Isa 40:31
31 But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
KJV

Ps 125:1-2
125 They that trust in the Lord shall be as mount Zion, which cannot be removed, but abideth for ever.
2 As the mountains are round about Jerusalem, so the Lord is round about his people from henceforth even for ever.
KJV

Heb 12:22
22 But ye are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels,
KJV

Rev 12:14
14 And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent.
KJV

I do not believe they need any help, as scripture they are a perfect prayer.

one of the verses.

If you're sick and can't get well and the doctor cannot help, turn it over to the Lord and he will heal you, I know he will and know matter how long it takes God will heal you, if you wait, Just teach me Lord ,teach me Lord how to wait.

This is how I learned to sing it..I added this last verse cause I really love it...someone else came up with it..but the Lord is alive.and its good to do it the way the spirit moves on us..not by someone else but as Jesus leads I believe...

Teach Me Lord To Wait

Teach me Lord to wait
Down on my knees.
Til in your own good time
You answer my pleas
Teach me not to rely
On what others might do
But to wait in prayer
On an answer from you

(CHORUS)
They that wait upon the Lord
Shall renew their strength.
They shall mount up with wings like eagles.
They shall run and not be weary.
They shall walk and not faint.
Teach me Lord, Teach me Lord, to wait.

Teach me Lord to wait
While hearts are aflame.
Help me humble myself
As I call on Your name.
Keep my faith renewed
My eyes on the you
Help me be on this earth
What you'd have me to be

Repeat Chorus

There's a time and a season
For all things.
Jesus promised in his Word
To answer my pleas.
I'm crying to You, Lord
To grant sweet relief
Oh Jesus
Help thou my unbelief

Hymn search - They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength

This is a very powerful song that all Christians need to stay strong in the Lord. I have known this song for many years and each time I hear it, it inspires me to learn how to wait. God does answer prayer. How long until He answers? That seems to be according to His perfect timing when all things are in order to make it happen. After all, He took six days for creation and it must have taken time to have everything to fall into place according to His will and perfect plan.

They That Wait
by: Roberta Martin

Chorus:
They that wait o the Lord shall renew their strength
They shall mount up o wings like eagles oh yes
They shall run and not get weary
They shall walk and not faint
Teach us Lord, teach us Lord how to wait
Master teach us how to wait.

Verses:
We are waiting blessed master for another pentecost
We have waited till our hearts have grown weary oh yes
Let the winds blow fresh from heaven let the promised power be given
Teach us Lord, teach us Lord how to wait
Master teach us how to wait.

Like Elijah on the mountain like Joshua at Jericho
We are calling we're trusting
We're waiting ever more
Like Job in his affliction let us wait till our change shall come
Teach us Lord, teach us Lord how to wait
Master teach us how to wait.
