I put this together today for a funeral coming up. Hope it helps and blesses someone

D-----------------------------G--------------A
One day I was wondering, what's it all about,
G-----------------A------------D------------------D7
Life is full of heartbreak, restlessness and doubt.
D-----------------Bm--------G-------------------A
Then a gentle stranger whispered words of love,
G-----------------A--------D-------------------D7
Pointed me to heaven, wrote my name above.

Chorus:
G--------A---------D-------------G--------A---------D
I know where I'm go - ing and who I'm going to see.
G---------A-------------Bm---D7----G-------A---------D--D7
I have a friend named Je--- sus waiting there for me.
G--------A---------D-------------G---A--------D
He has given something that only He can give.
---G-----------A-------Bm--------G-------A-------D
He gave His life in payment so that I could live.

D G A
There are many mansions He's preparing there,
G A D D7
That could not be purchased by a millionaire.
D Bm G A
Streets of gold that glitter, gates of pearly white,
G A D D7
In a day eternal where there is no night.

D G A
Friend if you are searching for a better way,
G A D D7
I'm recommending Jesus, trust in Him today.
D Bm G A
He will give life meaning like no other can.
G A D D7
Come and travel with me, to the promised land.

Sorry it squished all the chords together. I have it on a doc with the chords in their proper places if anyone would like it. Let me see if I can fix it.

Thank you.. I was trying to find the title and complete lyrics to this song in my head... probably as you said, also from the 70’s also. Thanks for clarification. Glad others remember it too.
