A friend asked me to find the song "The Darkest Hour is Just Before the Dawn" I thought I found it and sent her the lyrics, but she said it is not the one. The chorus to the one I found was

She said the chorus she is looking for is

This song was written by Pearl and Oliver Holmes in Fayetteville, North Carolina in 1954. They wrote the song alongside a friend named Mr. Weaver. The middle verse was not part of the original song. Many years later, Mr. Weaver‘s wife needed medical attention and he called the Holmes And asked if he could sell the song to a publishing company. Having no care, pearl and Oliver agreed. Wanting nothing for the song when discovered in the 1990s pearl said she had never heard the middle verse and it must’ve been added years later but she said she liked it.

She was my grandmother‘s best friend and we grew up singing this song.
