It's one that I love & it has been a hook that through the power of the Hy Spirit has set souls, and churches on fire for the Lord, since forever. Also, I've heard the similar hook on House Party, & I thought the hook derived from there, now I know, it derived from you all singing for the Lord. Thanks for sharing! To answer your question Bishop Mitlon Hollins (my husband) wrote the original I Don't Know What You ComeTo Do in 1965. He and I were the original Biblical Gospel Singers on Peackock Songbird recording label. We were the original singers/songwriters and I played and arranged the music on All of the songs. The group consisted of my brother in law (Charlie Simmons) Robert Brown, my husband Milton Hollins and myself. Later my sister Mary Frances joined the group. The group split after the hit song sold over 1million copies. My brother in law took the name Bilblicals and formed a different group and re-recorded the song on MCA. My husband and I formed a different group named The Helen Hollins Singers, we also recorded the song. Since that time everyone from Tony ToniTone (House Party II), BeBe Winans, The Walls Group and so many others have recorded the song. There are derivative versions of the song recorded by Tye Tribbett, Demetria Haddon
and more.
Most people do not realize that there is a verse to the song before the hook because everyone remembers the hook and vamp.The original music and lyrics can be found under Morton Morris sheet music titled I Come To Praise Him words and music by M.Hollins.

My family including my children are still singing and recording, Unfortunately my husband Bishop Milton Hollins Sr passed away. My son Milton Hollins Jr.. aka ( Bishop Milton Hollins/Milton Hollins) also singer/songwriter/musician continues to carry on the legacy.
