Re: nevertheless thy will be done
“Nevertheless, Thy Will Be Done” was written by Jack Shuler and Hilton Griswold around 1960 or so. It’s in the key of G in 3/4 time.
Verse 1)
Oh Lord, forgive I pray, my foolish pride, my erring way;
Hold me close, another day now is done; Thine I’d be, don’t let me stray, give me new strength, that I may say, “nevertheless, thy will be done.“
Chorus)
Thy will, oh Lord, I pray, thy will for me each day. Till the last weary mile, I have run; E’er the twilight shadows fade, help me to pray as He who prayed,“nevertheless, Thy will be done”!
Verse 2)
Distant scenes I cannot see, I know Thy way is best for me;
Lead me on till life in heav’n is begun; make me strong and unafraid, help me to pray as He who prayed, “nevertheless, Thy will be done.”
Verse 3)
To the Father up above, oh hear my prayer, give me Thy love;
Now I yield the things of life I have won; only give me souls for Thee, and let my prayer forever be, “nevertheless,Thy will be done.“
Hope this is the one you were looking for. I recalled that we used to sing this at the church my parents belonged to when I was just a little girl. So, I went searching for the old hymnal “Inspiration, Number 8”.
