What A Happy Time - Kingsmen??

Post by michaelanatal » Thu Feb 20, 2025 1:45 am

Good morning/evening! Longtime looker, firsttime poster. I found a song called "What A Happy Time" sung by the Kingsmen. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IYpH1LxsCTQ. (Note: not the "What A Happy Time" by J.T. Cook & J.M. Henson, like in the Church Hymnal). This song is credited to "Norell" and was published by Stamps-Baxter. I wrote out most of the lyrics (see below) and highlighted what I'm not sure about, please add your input!

My question is: What IS this song?? Who is "Norell"? When was it written? I cannot find any other recordings of it, there's no Hymnary.org entry, searching the lyrics gleans me nothing. If anyone has any insights/info, please let me know! TIA. :D

What A Happy Time

Verse 1
What a happy time is surely coming over on the Golden Strand
When with all our loved ones we'll meet Jesus in the bright eternal land
We shall go with praises to our Savior as we gather 'round the throne
Ringing out the wondrous song of triumph in the rapture here below

Refrain:
There will be no parting over yonder (in the xxx Gloryland?)
We shall be filled with perfect gladness (in that great wondrous land?? man cannot understand??)
Gathered with the saints of all the ages, never more in sin to roam
What a happy time will last forever when we reach our heavenly home

Verse 2
As we travel through this world of sorrow, trusting Jesus as our guide,
He will never fail us nor forsake us, all our needs he will provide
He will ever shield us from temptation and deliver us from wrong
Endlessly we're faced with trials (and-a we can?) see his throne
