Jesus He’s Still Alright

Post by Lakeb67 » Fri Jul 07, 2023 3:53 am

Hello, I’m looking for the original recording of this song…

Verse 1:
If I got no shoes for my feet If I got no bread in the house to eat If I got no money to see me through If I got no friends that I can turn to oh yes Jesus He's still alright

Chorus:
He's my bread when I'm hungry my water when I'm thirsty my shelter in the time storm He's the Lily of the Valley the bright and morning star Jesus Jesus Jesus He's still alright

There is a second verse, but I don’t remember it enough to construct a good enough sentence.

Greetings! This is a very old favorite gospel song that was sang back in the 70's!! We attended Jesus Name Tabernacle in Vicksburg Ms, and I played the church organ and sometimes piano. The "singing McFalls" we regular guests there as they were related to our (then pastor) Bro Roy Hartley. Brenda McFall was his sister and her husband was the singer and songwriter James McFall. I am not sure who was the first one I ever heard sing this song, but I know it well! I was also searching for who wrote it... was it ever recorded... I can fill in the words and make a couple of corrections...

(Verse one) Got no shoes on my feet, got no bread in the house to eat. I got no money to see me through, got no friends that I can turn to, BUT I got Je-sus! I got Je-sus! I got Jesus, and that's alright!

Chorus: He's my Bread when I'm hungry, my Water when I thirst He's my Shelter in the time of stor--m He's the Lily of the Valley, the Bright and Morning Star! I've got Je-sus! I've got Je-sus! I got Je-sus and that's alrigiht!

(verse two) He's my Father, He's my Mother, He's my sister and my brother; when the clouds get in my way and I can't see the light of day, I've got Je-sus! I've got Je-sus! I've got Je-sus, and that's alright!

(Sing chorus again!)

What a GREAT!!! song this was!! If anyone can shed some light as to WHO wrote it? Was it ever recorded? any information would be great! God bless each one who reads this!
