When lamps are lighted in the town, the fishermen at sea
Re: When lamps are lighted in the town, the fishermen at sea
I often think about this hymn, which I remember singing at my primary school about 70 years ago. The school was called The Glade Primary School, in Clayhall which now comes under Redbridge, and was nowhere near the sea, but of course we still benefited from the fish.

I remember singing this in the early seventies at school too.

I should add - it was my favourite and has always stuck in my mind from Robert Sherbourne Infant School. There was always a lifeboat collection box in the hall and I think we linked it to that. I could remember the tune and first two lines but not all the lyrics so thanks to the person that provided them here and it's lovely to hear that other people remember and love it too.
