The song is called "Going Home".
Somewhere on this site is a thread that has the lyrics. I believe someone requested in September of this year.
It was written by Bill and Gloria Gaither.

Going Home

1. Many times in my childhood when we'd travel so far
By nightfall how weary I'd grow,
Father's arm would slip 'round me and so gently He'd say,
My child, we're going home.

Cho: Going home, I'm going home.
For there is nothing to hold me here,
I've caught a glimpse of that heavenly land,
Praise God, I'm going home.

2. Now the twilight is fading and day soon shall end
I get homesick the farther I roam,
But my Father has kept me each step of the way,
And now we're going home.

Going Home

Many times in my childhood, when we'd travel so far
By night time, how weary I'd grown
Father's arms would slip 'round me, so gently he'd say
"My child we're going home"

Chorus
Going home, I'm going home.
There's nothing to hold me here:
For I've caught a glimpse of that heavenly land,
Praise God, I am going home.

Now the twilight is fading, the day soon shall end,
I get homesick the farther I roam:
But my Father has led me each step of the way,
And now I am going home.

Oh my heart gets so heavy and I'm longing to see,
All my loved ones and friends I have known:
Every step draws me nearer to the land of my dreams,
Praise God, I am going home.

the chorus has back up it goes like this

Going home, I'm going home.
oh I'm going home yes I'm going home

There's nothing to hold me here:
no there's nothing to hold me here

For I've caught a glimpse of that heavenly land,
Yes I've caught a glimpse of that heavenly land

Praise God, I am going home.

I hope this helps as well I love this song my youth group sings it
God bless

There was an evangelist out of MS who is in Heaven now. His name was Billy Kelly. He had six recordings done and he sang "Going Home" and "The King And The Beggar" plus many other good ones. Find his recordings, and you'll find the ones you are looking for.

The words and the melody of "Going Home" are so inspiring and uplifting. I have a recording by Michael English but does anyone know of one by David Phelps?. He is a former member of the Gaither Quartet..Thanks in anticipation..Tony. N.Z.
